National Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month

Mrs. Olivia Reiner, President, Hear O' Israel International 713-829-0899
Mr. John Gable, Campaign Chair 713-729-5721 Listen to the Cries of the Children

WHEREAS Hear O' Israel International is raising up a standard of humanity and resounding the alarm, bringing public awareness by proclaiming September, 2001, as National, Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month, and beginning a year-long campaign, including the Annual Feast of Joy for the physically challenged, the elderly, the fatherless, the abused and neglected children, and the widows around the world, and the devoted laborers and charities who strive to take care of these individuals in meeting their special needs; and

WHEREAS Hear O' Israel International, a nonprofit and nondenominational organization, will conduct this awareness project called National Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month throughout the month of September, 2001, in conjunction with the ongoing campaign to "Listen to the Cries of the Children" as already endorsed by Mayor Lee P. Brown and every member of Houston City Council, and by U.S. House Representatives Kenneth Bentsen, Jr., and Sheila Jackson-Lee, as placed every year on Congressional Record in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS Hear O' Israel International and the physically challenged have adopted Mayor Lee P. Brown and all City Councilmembers of Houston, Texas, and also wish to adopt any willing business leaders and church pastors for one day during the National Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month of September, 2001; and ask Mayor Brown and all of Houston City Council to join in inviting all business leaders and pastors to participate with us during National Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month; and

WHEREAS National Mercy, Love, and Compassion Month is a campaign to call attention to the plight of countless thousands of physically challenged persons, the elderly, the fatherless, the abused and neglected children, and the widows around the world who have been forgotten and many times rejected by our communities; and

WHEREAS Hear O' Israel International, the physically challenged, and other neglected and abused families in recovery hereby unite to implore all churches, synagogues, temples, businesses, schools, and charities around the world to join in sharing this calling of taking care of our most vulnerable members of society in meeting their special needs; and

WHEREAS Hear O' Israel International encourages people of all ages nationwide during the month of September, 2001, to adopt a family or an individual in need, as a gesture of support in resounding the alarm for the physically challenged, the elderly, the fatherless, the abused and neglected, and the widows crying out for help around the world; and

WHEREAS we need to exercise true judgment and wisdom by showing mercy, love, and compassion -- every neighbor to every brother and sister, every parent and child to each other, every teacher and student, every manager and worker -- and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, nor the stranger, nor the poor; nor let any one of us imagine evil or hold unforgiveness against any brother or sister in our hearts, as we need to give of ourselves to help others less fortunate, especially those who cannot repay us; and

WHEREAS we need to motivate our small children and youth to do charitable deeds, to visit nursing homes and hospitals, and to respect themselves and others equally, so that the focus on compassion dispels the need for rebellion and violence that otherwise threaten our youth and our future;

IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that September, 2001, will be declared National Love, Mercy, and Compassion Month, to begin year-round events in Houston and worldwide for the purpose of linking families together in the spirit of charity, sharing with our less fortunate neighbors, and sweeping our cities with mercy, love, and compassion.
